Do you know the feeling that your heart beats and echoes like a drum
That feeling of the melody, which moves you to your core
Sound is pulsing through your veins
Sweat is dripping down your body
It is a rush through your head and overwhelms you with a feeling of great happiness
You are blinded by lasers and wondered by solidarity
Music
it is what makes us feel alive
But the true soul of music
Connecting with others
sharing our experiences with people far and wide
connecting through a mutual love for unique and immersive performances
that connection is our fuel

That connection is you in EXTASE22

My world changed in 2015, the moment I walked into Tomorrowland’s DreamVille.
Surrounded by 180,000 other “chosen ones” from 75 countries worldwide. Young and old, all traveling for that one extraordinary weekend. They come to create memories, to immerse themselves in something only the deepest dreams can imagine. Acceptance is self-evident. You become one with each other. You are the chosen group.

Within my graduation project EXTASE22, I explore an overwhelming feeling of great happiness. The research began with the revolution of house music and is enriched by interviews with RoXy Amsterdam’s first resident DJ Joost van Bellen (aka The Disco Dinosaur), world-renowned festival photographer Rutger Geerling, and Michelle Cornelissen, a die-hard gabber from the scene and my friend from art academy.

EXTASE22 approaches escapism as a conscious state rather than an act of disappearance. The collection draws from the physical traces left behind by collective celebration: tents, flags, banners, decorative materials, combined with leftover, high-quality fabrics from the fashion industry, including couture textiles. By reworking what already exists, the collection transforms collective memory and material residue into new forms of expression.

Immerse yourself in my ultimate escape.
My overwhelming feeling of great happiness.
The feeling of EXTASE22
